Klaus Blaum
Max-Planck-Institute for Nuclear Physics
Klaus Blaum studied physics at the University of Mainz. As postdoctoral researcher he moved to CERN in Geneva. From 2004 to 2007, he headed a Helmholtz research group. In 2007 he was appointed director at the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg. At the same time, he is a professor at the University of Heidelberg. From July 2020 til June 2023 he was the Scientific Vice President of the MPG.
Klaus Blaum has received a number of prizes for his groundbreaking work in the field of precision atomic and nuclear measurements using quantum metrology techniques, including the Gustav Hertz Prize 2004, the Helmholtz Prize for Precision Measurement in 2012, and the Otto Hahn Prize in 2021. He is well known for his world-record measurements of fundamental particle properties.
